Parametric Drafting applies relational/parametric technology to the creation of mechanical drawings. Relational technology is particularly useful when multiple designs are based on a parent design (family-of-parts projects) and when a design is frequently adjusted or revised during the course of product development.

With AnvilCAD Lite, you have these options on the Parametric Drafter toolbar:

The following steps allow you to create a relational mechanical drawing with Parametric Drafter.:

1. Set the Parametric Drafting modals. These control your working environment.

2. Create a View Cluster. This establishes a structure within Parametric Drafter for associating all the geometry, dimensions, constraints, and relations that are part of your model. You can create the view cluster before or after you create your geometry and dimensions, but you must do it before you can specify any constraints or relations.
   

3. Create one or more View Sets from existing geometry. These help you organize and control your work. In general, you can think of the View Cluster (created in step 2) as a sheet of paper that contains everything about your model, and the View Sets as the individual views or projections of your model's geometry.
   

4. Define Circular or Rectangular Arrays if required.
   

5. Dimension your geometry, if you have not already done so. Additionally geometry can be defined using any AnvilCAD Lite construction method and then added to the appropriate view set.
   

Tip: If your final drawing is a Drawing Layout, bring the geometry into the Drawing Layout before creating the dimensions.

7. Modify the dimension values as necessary to refine your design. By default your design will regenerate automatically.
