PREVIOUS UPDATES TO ANVIL EXPRESS

Version 4.1

Here are some areas of ANVIL EXPRESS that have been improved and/or enhanced in version 4.1:

  • New Helix construct for 3-D Splines. Allows you to create a left or right-hand helix with multiple parameters like; Radius, Z Height, Start Angle, and End Angle or Number of Coils.
  • Copy and Paste entities like you copy and paste text. This function lets you copy displayed entities, then paste them into the same part or a different part with very little interaction.
  • New 3D Surface Point tutorials.
  • New 3D Spline tutorials, including new Helix construct.
  • Reduced interaction when using Basic Modals / Set modals By Example.
  • Enable repeat selection when using 2D Projected Entities.
  • Enhance feedback for “K” implicit point. You can now view and edit the XYZ coordinates of the position.
  • Add “Existing Line“ option to Easy Mirror. 
  • Enable GRAPL-IV Delete command to delete all entities.
  • Allow KEYWORD check when prompting for file names in GRAPL-IV.
  • Drawing Layout modal access from the Right-Mouse-Button. These are now located at the bottom of the menu.
  • Enable additional tools for Express Viewer/Converter.
  • Remove 20 character limit  in data-entry dialogs.
  • Enhanced and improved installation program and security tools.
  • Add new product Express Viewer Lite.

Versions 3.X - 4.0

Here are some areas of ANVIL EXPRESS that have been improved and/or enhanced thru version 4.0:

  • Programmable macros with external macro files. These are true function macros, enabling you to combine existing icon-based functions into user-named macros, represented by user-defined graphics, and applied to existing user-defined toolbars.
  • The Express Board. This is a WEB-based bulletin board system for posting technical questions and enhancements, with direct response from the ANVIL users community and MCS Technical Support staff.
  • Added support for groups, and groups with attributes in Figure creation.
  • Enhanced toolbar expansion control.
  • Further enhancements to DXF/DWG Revisions 14 and 2000 for import and export.
  • Added support for Undo in Chamfer. 
  • Quick Black/White toggle for background color in File Preferences.
  • Right-Mouse-Button access to toggle Select from Group modal in selection menus.
  • Drawing Layout interface enhancements to Hidden Presentation - these functions are now available on the Right-Mouse-Button.
  • Drawing Layout modal access from the Right-Mouse-Button.
  • Enhanced interface & file control for Express Viewer.
  • Nearly a dozen Express interface enhancements - making Express even easier to work in.
  • CAM enhancements for 2X & 4X EDM.
  • Enhanced DCS control on RMB.
  • Rearranged construction icons on the main toolbar to simplify use.
  • General system-wide anomaly fixes.
  • User-Configured Toolbars have been enhanced. Users now have the ability to copy Express icons and group them onto a number of user toolbars. To reduce toolbar space required when docking, it also possible to remove unused function icons from Express toolbars.
  • User-Defined Toolbars are now available to assign icons on a special toolbar to execute external GRAPL-IV programs.
  • Autoload Toolbar Configuration provides a method to load a saved toolbar configuration each time you start Express.
  • A full screen Crosshair cursor option is now available.
  • The Pen Number modal is accessible from the main modal bar.
  • Plot colors by pen number is now available in the Plot dialog.
  • Significantly enhanced support for DXF/DWG Revisions 14 and 2000 for import and export.
  • Export an Express 3-D Drawing Layout to DXF/DWG Model space only. With this option DL paperview entities are not mapped to Paper space, but to Modal space.
  • Smash Express 3-D drawings (curves, surfaces, and solids) to 2-D option when exporting DXF/DWG.
  • ANVIL-1000 export fully supports ANVIL trimmed surfaces and knitted models.
  • New HTMLhelp with expanded content.
  • New support for 256 color graphics cards and drivers.
  • In addition to Easy Move, there is now Easy - Scale, Mirror, and Rotate.
  • Improved Curve Analysis plots.
  • File Compress now forces disk compression of part file for all backup modes.
  • General enhancements to the CAM interface.
  • High Speed Milling motions are now available for Pocketing and Area Clearance tool paths.
  • CAM Process Interactions are now saved for each of the primary machining methods (Milling, Drilling, Turning, EDM, 5-Axis).
  • New utilities have been added to Tool Management.
  • CAM Output has been enhanced with additional tools for Output Lists and Work-Shifts.
  • New keyboard controls when working in Display & Edit.
  • New user-configurable tool bars. Users now have the ability to save and load various configurations of toolbars
  • New NURB utilities: knot insertion, knot removal, and degree elevation
  • New global NURB approximation for curves and surfaces
  • New copy knitted-model capability
  • Now allows "All Related Files" delineation in the File Open dialogue box
  • Now saves the last used extensions for parts and imports
  • New Get Sketch feature added to the SolidWorks® toolbar
  • Retrieves SolidWorks "Get Model" a minimum of 50% faster
  • Now allows single- and two-view revolved solids to snap from 2D to 3D using SNAP2-3D™
  • Now allows single- and two-view skinning to snap from 2D to 3D using SNAP2-3D™
  • New pocket "clean-up" tool path that allows smaller tools to be used for final pocket boundary and island cuts, while also supporting cutter compensation.
  • New multiple operation drilling tool path that allows a single tool path to machine user specified multiple operation features such as "center-drilled, tap-drilled, and tapped holes".
  • New "spiral step over cuts" to allow high speed pocket machining.
  • Multiple surface planar slice roughing is enhanced to allow boundary and island containment.
  • 5-axis swarf cutting has been enhanced to allow multiple part and/or swarf drive surfaces and swarf to the edge of the swarf surface(s). In addition, a maximum tool axis change angle has been added to swarf cutting.
