MCS CONSULTING SERVICES On the most basic level, MCS offers data-conversion services that allow many types of legacy data to be brought into ANVIL EXPRESS. In addition to file-type conversions (e.g., from Computervision's CADDS to ANVIL EXPRESS), MCS can handle many types of media conversions. For example, if a company has DAT drives, but data on 1/4in cartridge tapes, MCS can handle the conversion, eliminating the need to buy expensive hardware for such limited use. Operating system conversions (e.g., converting UNIX-based data to Windows) are also available. The heart of MCS's implementation guidance program is in the custom consulting services the company provides. These include: On-Site Productivity Analysis: MCS personnel analyze a customer's design and manufacturing processes and assist in developing more efficient approaches to solving problems, completing tasks, and better utilizing the power of ANVIL EXPRESS. Modifications to Existing ANVIL EXPRESS Software: This class of service includes the creation of custom programs that add minor enhancements to the customer's system. These programs typically are written in GRAPL-IV, MCS's graphics application programming language. Custom Applications: MCS personnel work with the customer to produce a design specification and then to create a custom software application tailored to a customer's specific needs. This can be a stand-alone application or one that is then integrated into the customer's overall CAD/CAM system. Custom NC Postprocessor: MCS also offers assistance with defining and developing the interface between ANVIL EXPRESS CAM and an NC machine tool. Operator preferences and the types of parts being machined are just some of the factors taken into account in developing the new postprocessor.
